Nearly a decade ago, my wife Rachel and I cast off the dock lines of our Tayana 42, Agàpē, and headed south in search of warmer waters and adventure. Since meeting, we had always dreamt of a life of travel. We backpacked throughout Central America and tested the waters of van life before realizing we wanted more. Not necessarily more stuff or even more comfort, but more adventure, and longer adventures. Combining Rachel’s love of travel with my love for sailing, cruising was the next natural step. Story By: Evan & Karly Nietzel
There’s something about small towns that stays with you. The places where the pace slows, the docks feel familiar almost instantly, and time seems to stretch just enough to let you breathe. While navigating America’s Great Loop, my husband and I kept gravitating toward those places just off the main path. When heading north on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway from Florida into Georgia, many cruisers make a beeline for Cumberland Island, drawn by its historic ruins and iconic wild horses. But just past the island’s southern tip, a subtle turn west onto the St. Marys River leads to something quieter and in many ways, more intimate. In under five nautical miles, that slight detour delivers you straight into St. Marys, Georgia.

We Bought a Boat in Southeast Asia
Story By: Camille & Jesse
We traded steel-cap boots for bare feet. After a year and a half of twelve-hour days in the Australian mines, covered in red dust, sweating under the desert sun, counting down the days until our next swing home, we can finally sit barefoot on the deck of our dream boat, looking out over turquoise water and palm-fringed islands. The air smells like salt and sunscreen instead of diesel and dirt. The sound of engines has been replaced by the wind through the rigging. We’re Camille and Jesse, a young couple from America and Australia who decided that if we were going to work ourselves to the bone, it should be for something we truly believed in.
